The four performance levels
| Level | Meaning | What it tells a parent |
|---|---|---|
| EE | Exceeding Expectation | Going beyond what is expected at this stage. |
| ME | Meeting Expectation | Doing what is expected, on track. |
| AE | Approaching Expectation | Nearly there, and needs some support. |
| BE | Below Expectation | Needs extra help in this area. |
Junior School sub-levels
At Junior School level, assessment commonly uses an eight-point scale that divides each level in two: EE1 and EE2, ME1 and ME2, AE1 and AE2, BE1 and BE2. Check the current KNEC guidance for how your school should report and convert scores, since this has been updated as the curriculum has rolled out.
What a good CBC report card shows
- Each learning area, with its performance level.
- A short, specific teacher comment rather than "good work".
- Core competencies and values where the school reports them.
- Attendance, and the class teacher's and principal's comments.
- A clear explanation of the levels, so that parents can read it unaided.
Why recording through the term helps
CBC relies on assessment during the term, not only a final exam. Recording it as it happens, on a phone, means report cards at the end of term are a matter of reviewing and printing rather than a week of catching up.
Shulepoa records assessments by learning area and strand and produces CBC report cards for Pre-primary, Primary, Junior School and Senior School.
